The Restylane line of injectable products offers a range of options for a variety of applications. Restylane is made with a base of hyaluronic acid—a sugar molecule that attracts moisture. Because this substance occurs naturally in the body, Restylane integrates beautifully into the skin, rejuvenating even the most delicate areas on the face. When performed with a conservative approach and artistic eye, Restylane can boost the vitality of the skin while producing natural results.

What is Restylane?

Restylane is a hyaluronic acid-based cosmetic injection. Hyaluronic acid attracts water, meaning Restylane not only directly fills wrinkles and improves facial contours, but also restores moisture and life to the skin itself.

There is a full line of Restylane products, each one suited to a specific area of the face or a specific cosmetic issue.

For example, for our San Diego patients seeking cheek enhancement, the cheeks are robust and require a dense filler that is injected deeper into the dermal tissue. Conversely, the lips are much more delicate, requiring a thin, soft, and pliable filler that is injected close to the surface. At Ranch & Coast in Del Mar, our providers are deeply knowledgeable in each Restylane filler, allowing them to precisely recommend which is best for you.

How Long do the Results of Restylane Last?

The results of Restylane last between six to eighteen months. This will depend upon the density of the filler and the area treated. Denser fillers come with more longevity, while softer fillers will need to be maintained more frequently. Our office will help to schedule maintenance treatments at the proper intervals, ensuring our San Diego patients get the most out of their treatment.

What are the Benefits of Restylane?

When it comes to Restylane treatments, it is important to understand every provider is not the same. At Ranch & Coast, we are not only overseen by three board-certified surgeons, but we also boast master injectors who provide premium treatment. With Restylane, patients can expect such benefits as:

  • Smoother skin
  • Improved appearance of moderate to severe facial folds, including nasolabial folds and marionette lines
  • Improved appearance of fine lines and wrinkles throughout the face
  • Enhanced facial contouring, particularly around the cheeks and temples
  • Fuller lips
  • Restored moisture to the skin

What Occurs During Restylane Treatment?

Restylane cosmetic injections begin with a topical anesthetic to ensure comfort. Additionally, the Restylane product itself contains a small amount of lidocaine, which further reduces any discomfort. The injections themselves last between five to twenty minutes, depending upon the number of target areas. Patients can expect to see results immediately following treatment, although they may be accompanied by minor swelling or redness, which generally subside within a day or two.

Restylane Post-Treatment Instructions

Even with non-surgical rejuvenation, it is still essential to ensure the body is properly prepared for treatment. At Ranch & Coast in San Diego, we aim to deliver the best cosmetic results while minimizing side effects.

While we will provide patients with a full list of aftercare instructions, they will generally include avoiding certain activities, medications, foods, and supplements. Such activities and substances could increase swelling, bruising, bleeding, or irritation. Substances to avoid include:

  • Non-steroidal, anti-inflammatory medications
  • St. John’s wort
  • Blood thinners
  • Vitamin E

Such substances should be avoided for approximately one week after Restylane treatment to ensure optimal results. Such post-care instructions will be thoroughly discussed during the initial consultation, helping patients to properly prepare for the period following treatment.
