Liposuction
This procedure involves removing fat from specific areas with a long, thin, metal tube called a "cannula".

"Tumescent Liposuction" has become a standard procedure which involves the infusion of a large amount of dilute local anesthetic solution into the tissue prior to performing liposuction. By increasing the pressure in the tissue, it allows the procedure to be performed with much less blood loss, bruising and pain than the conventional liposuction of the past.

Ultrasound assisted liposuction is a relatively new technique that uses sound waves to "liquefy" unwanted fat. This procedure is utilized for removing fat from fibrous body areas or for removing larger volumes of fat in a single procedure.

Small incisions are made over the affected areas. The cannula is inserted and fat is suctioned off and removed. This procedure takes approximately one to three hours depending on the number of areas being treated. The recovery period varies from one to three weeks depending on the patient's level of activity.

Thigh Lift
A thigh lift is a procedure in which skin and subcutaneous tissue are removed from either the medial (inside) thigh or around the entire thigh. This procedure is used in cases which liposuction would not be enough to achieve a satisfactory result. These candidates usually have either lax skin with stretch marks, considerable cellulite or excess skin.

The procedure is performed by removing the excess skin and pulling up the thigh skin to achieve a much more youthful look. The incisions are generally placed in an inconspicuous space between the crease of the upper thigh and body.

Gynecomastia Repair
Gynecomastia Repair, commonly known as male breast reduction, is a surgical procedure to reduce enlarged female-like breasts in men.

This procedure is generally performed using liposuction to remove the unwanted fat and tissue in the breast area. This process takes approximately one to two hours to complete. Incisions are small and hidden in inconspicuous areas.

Most patients are back to work in a few days and may resume strenuous activity in a few weeks.

Brachioplasty
This procedure is done to tighten the loose skin of the upper arm, a.k.a. Batwings. Excess and loose skin is very common in patients who have lost a considerable amount of weight and in older patients who have lost elasticity in their skin. Removing the excess skin of the arm is known as Brachioplasty.

The method of surgery is not complicated; the excess skin is marked and then removed. The incision is placed on the inner surface of the arm. In some cases, fat is suctioned at the same time. The operation is performed under general anesthesia and is performed on an outpatient basis.

The recovery period is approximately one to two weeks. Most people are back to work within one week.

Not everybody with loose skin is a candidate for Brachioplasty. Some patients benefit solely from liposuction. Only Dr. Chasan will be able to tell you which method is best for you.

Calf Augmentation
Calf Augmentation involves placing solid silicone implants on top of the gastrocnemius muscles. For those with naturally small calves, even with vigorous weight lifting, there is very little chance to improve the size of one's calves.

Calf Augmentation is performed by placing implants through an incision behind the knee and takes approximately one hour to complete. There are few operations that make as dramatic improvement as Calf Augmentation. Most patients are back to normal activities within ten days.

Ambulatory Phlebectomy
Many people have varicose veins to varying degrees or spider veins on the legs. There are a variety of modalities to treat these veins. For the larger veins, removing them through a series of very small incisions can be performed under local anesthesia. This involves making very small incisions and removing a portion of the vein through each incision. Generally, these incisions are so small that when healed, are almost imperceptible.

For the smaller veins and spider veins, these can be injected with a solution that injures the inside of the vessel wall. This causes the small vein to literally shrivel up and go away with time.

After both types of procedures, ace wraps must be worn for varying lengths of time, for the small spider veins, only for 24 to 48 hours, for the more extensive removal of large veins, up to three weeks. Generally, this procedure is tolerated very well. It is performed under local anesthesia and there is a high patient satisfaction rate. It is quite common after removing certain veins that after two, three or four years, there is a recurrence of some veins. These can be treated similarly.

Pectoral Augmentation
Pectoral Augmentation involves placing solid silicone implants beneath the pectoralis major muscle much like breast augmentation in women.

This procedure is performed by placing the implants through a small incision in the armpit. It takes approximately one hour to complete. The result is a much firmer and more powerful appearing chest.
